Overview
Chadva Rakhal is a pristine private forest reserve owned by the former royal family of Kutch. Located just 15-20km from Bhuj near Samatra village, this protected oasis centers around the scenic Pragsar Lake. It is one of the few places in Kutch where you can spot Mugger Crocodiles basking in their natural habitat, surrounded by dense dry deciduous forest.
A Royal Legacy
Historically, 'Rakhals' were hunting reserves for the Maharaos of Kutch. Today, Chadva Rakhal is a conservation success story. Managed by the Maharao Pragmulji Nature Conservation Trust, it protects indigenous flora and fauna, offering a glimpse into how the Kutch landscape looked before modern development.
